Black / yellow aramid in various make-ups

August 25, 2020August 25, 2020

Para-aramid (commonly known under the brands Kevlar® or Twaron®) is used in hundreds of applications like in technical textiles, high performance sails, ropes, lines, thermoplastic reinforcement, cables and much more. Para-aramid does not shrink, does not burn and has a very high strength with almost no elongation. Also over time, para-aramid doesn’t show any extension (creep).

SWIFT Fiber processes para-aramid by twisting, winding and by adding coating to the yarn, which makes it even more versatile. By twisting para-aramid, the yarn gets round, which increases its flex fatigue resistance and gains in strength. By coating the yarn, it can increase its processability and add more features that suits your application. We can also process the yarn and put it on the package that works best in your machine.

High temperature sewing thread

October 25, 2017July 14, 2020

For high temperature applications like hot gas filtration, textile fire barriers, insulation blankets, high temperature cables, this special sewing thread could be used. Basically every application which would see 400°C continuously or thermal shock up to 600°C would benefit from such a yarn.

This high temperature resistant sewing thread is made with high temperature resistant fiberglass twisted filament yarn, coated with PTFE. The PTFE coating makes the yarn more compact and reduces friction and repels dirt, water and chemicals and improves the sewability. For even higher temperature resistance the thread could be reinforced with steel yarn.

This sewing thread could be used in both machine- and hand sewing operations and is available on king spools or conical tubes for easy processing.

PEEK monofilament / multifilament and PEEK staple fiber

July 3, 2017July 14, 2020

Polyether ether ketone (PEEK) is a colourless organic thermoplastic polymer in the polyaryletherketone (PAEK) family and is used in many engineering applications. PEEK has an excellent chemical and thermal resistance and could be an alternative to meta-aramid and PPS filaments. Customers appreciate the non-stick character of the filaments in processing belts as well as in filtration fabrics. PEEK filaments can also be used in applications like composites, cable harnesses for aerospace, automotive and utility vehicles, strings for musical instruments and for rackets like tennis, squash and badminton, medical applications and in 3D printing. Our PEEK resin and therefore the filaments are FDA approved and safe to be used in the food industry.

PEEK monofilament

PEEK is available in monofilaments from 0.10 mm up to 2.50 mm and PEEK filaments are particularly suitable for applications that require extremely high mechanical, thermal and chemical properties. The standard make-up for monofilaments is on flanged reels, for braiding applications we could supply the filaments directly on braider bobbins.

PEEK multifilament

Our PEEK offering also consists of PEEK multifilament from 125 dtex up to 1230 dtex and could be delivered on regular carton spools or on flanged reels. Our standard products are 550 dtex and 1230 dtex with 30 or 72 filaments. PEEK multifilament could be used to produce hybrid yarns or used in hybrid fabrics. The mechanical properties could be adapted to suit your application and both low and high shrinkage and low and high elongation are available.

PEEK staple fiber

Our latest addition is the PEEK staple fiber which is basically short filaments with various lengths which could be used to spin into yarns (100% PEEK or mixed with other fibers) or to be used in felts or other non-woven products.

PEEK 3D filament

PEEK produced with the highest purity PEEK resin for the best printing results available on various spools with a diameter of 1.75 mm. This version available as an unfilled, 100% PEEK filament.

SWIFT FIBER-YARN TABLE

April 11, 2017July 14, 2020

SWIFT Fiber is proud to announce the Technical Yarn table. A comparison table to compare the mechanical properties of the various high performance technical yarns available on the market. This should help you in choosing the right fiber for the job. Does the yarn should be high or low elongation, have a high shrinkage or low shrinkage, will the yarn see UV, abrasion and should the yarn insulate or transfer the heat? All these properties could be checked in our yarn table. If you have any questions or remarks to make, please feel free to contact us.

HMPE Yarn

December 5, 2016July 14, 2020

In the technical textile industry almost everybody is aware of the name Dyneema® which is today a household synonym for HMPE, high modulus polyethylene. This fiber is one of the strongest fibers currently available on the market and has very interesting properties like the mentioned high strength, low specific gravity (the yarn floats on water), high cut resistance and a very good chemical and UV resistance. Dyneema® is the brand name of DSM Dyneema® and is produced both in The Netherland and the United States. Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) is the family name of Dyneema®, some other brands are Spectra®, Tsunooga® and Endumax®. The latter product is a HMPE tape (flat monofilament).

The market is full of alternatives for these brands with different prices and different qualities. How to make the right choice between all these offerings? SWIFT Fiber works with proven suppliers with a product range in both white and dyed colors, also HMPE tape is available through SWIFT Fiber.

Standard yarn colors besides white, are red, yellow and black. Other colors are available upon request. The fibers are produced with a colored polymer, which means the color can not rub off, wash off or fade due to the use of the fiber. Colored HMPE is available from 220 dtex and white HMPE is available from 55 dtex.

Rigging & Rope Recycling

December 5, 2016July 14, 2020

SWIFT Fiber is specialized in the collection and recycling of used, discarded and re-fitted rigging cables and ropes. We collect old ropes from over the world and bring them to our facility to get them recycled. The fibers inside the cables, like PBO/Zylon® and Kevlar®, can be re-used for heat resistant applications.

We reclaim fibers from the cables and process them so that they can be re-used in other applications. From all the different types of waste we collect, most of them are going to the production of recycled fibers for the textile industry, more particularly aimed at spinning and nonwoven companies. But fibers are also used to improve the properties of paper, plastics and even concrete.

If you have any cables, ropes or other technical textile waste, please let us know and we would be happy to arrange the collection and the recycling of your textile waste.
