Stainless steel is also known as inox steel or inox and is a steel alloy with a minimum of 10.5% chromium content. Stainless steel has a very good corrosion resistance and is now available as a yarn. SWIFT Fiber can provide you the stainless steel yarn both in the form of spun yarn and continues multifilament yarn.
Stainless steel spun yarn
Our stainless steel spun yarn is made of a blend of stainless steel fibers (short cut steel fiber) and synthetic fibers (polyester fiber). By varying the mix of stainless steel and polyester the conductive properties can be altered to match the desired level of conductivity. These yarns can be used as an antistatic yarn or as EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference) shielding in a wide variety of applications. Our standard product is a Nm 50/2 steel/polyester blend yarn with 40% stainless steel and 60% polyester fibers. Spun yarn with 100% inox is now also available in our product range.
Stainless steel multifilament yarn
Very thin (12 micron) wires that form a continuous filament together, resulting in a very soft and pliable yarn with antistatic properties, a high temperature resistance and a very good mechanical resistance. Our stainless steel continuous filaments could be used for a multitude of applications like: heat resistant sewing thread, heating element, power or signal element for intelligent textiles and garments. These yarns are multifunctional and could be woven, knitted, braided or even sewn. The yarn has a high temperature resistance and corrosion resistance and could be cleaned and sterilized with steam. Therefore applications, for instance, in the food industry could benefit from these unique properties. We can supply the stainless steel multifilament yarn in different twist constructions. contact us for more information.
